Report AbuseI just came back from a two week stay in CN. The Castle seemed to be rented the entire time. Also--1 or 2 of the guards in the CN Security unit are Peggy's brothers. Local rumors said the Vicks were in Florida, and then I was told they were in CA where they have relatives.

This is infuriating. They have enough money to run around the country while they won't give back the deposits to the renters they scammed. I am so disappointed in the state of Tennessee and Sevier County for allowing this to happen without any justice for those VICKtims.
Wel I had never been to Tn. This would have been my family's first trip there and our first vacation in 3 years. It didn't happen and now I have accepted the fact that I will never visit that area and give them any more of my money. I just could not bring myself to hand over a deposit to anyone up there. I just could not do it! I know there are good people there but you know the old saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!"
The furor may have died down but the Vick name will forever be a nasty blight in Gatlinburg. Locals will remember and laugh at the mention of the name long after they are gone. They may have gotten away with this but they will pay with their reputation, never mind trying to make excuses and hide behind their religion. May you and your offspring enjoy taking that to the bank, Robert and Libby.
Let's all get together and take Fontain/ Robert and Libby Vicks that had rental prop. with them to court and sell there prop. I unstand they put there personal prop in their son name ! I heard the house in Cobby Nob is empty.

The house up in cobbly nob "mountain critter lodge" was sold 2 weeks ago. Rob Vick was the selling agent. TREC, like our government, a joke.
This is a petition to make Vacation Lodging Service (VLS) licensed rental companies in Tennessee be responsible for refunding the guest when a reservation is cancelled (through no fault of the guest).
Amend or remove TCA 62-13-104 (b)(3),(D)(i)!

To protect the traveling public and Tennessee rental property owners, we, the undersigned, respectfully request that TCA 62-13-104 (b)(3),(D)(i) be either removed and replaced, or amended to reflect the following safeguards:
1) In Tennessee, the guest's execution of a vacation rental agreement in which he or she agrees to the advance disbursement of payments shall not constitute a waiver or loss of any of the guest's rights to reimbursement of such payments if the guest is lawfully entitled to reimbursement.
2) Rental companies in Tennesee shall not be exempt from licensing or an escrow audit.
3) Rental companies in Tennessee shall never have more than a one-third difference in what their escrow balance should be and the escrow's actual balance.
4) Rental companies in Tennessee shall self-report to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission once a month as to the status of their escrow balances, and the auditor shall spot-check, unannounced, for accuracy.
Bad news travels fast, so time is of the essence to save the overnight vacation rental industry in Tennessee. Fix the laws!
